Our founders have decades of hands-on experience, partnering with some of California’s top builders to deliver projects that range from custom estate homes and community developments to large-scale commercial and public works.

Meet the Team

  • DIRK THEISSEN

    CO-FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

    Dirk brings four decades of experience in the concrete and masonry industry, combining hands-on trade expertise with leadership roles at some of Southern California’s largest construction firms. Over the years, he has held key positions including General Manager, Vice President, Director of Estimating, and Senior Project Manager, giving him a well-rounded perspective on both field operations and business management.

    He began his career in 1983 in Orange County, building fireplaces and custom homes — a true mason by trade who developed a strong foundation in craftsmanship early on. A significant part of Dirk’s career has been dedicated to building commercial projects for major big-box retailers such as Lowe’s, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, Costco, and AMC and Edwards Theaters. He has also delivered projects for popular retail and restaurant chains including Walgreens, CVS, AutoZone, O’Reilly’s, Raising Cane’s, Chick-fil-A, and Pollo Campero.

    Beyond retail, Dirk has managed large mixed-use and residential developments for industry leaders like Alliance Residential, Western National, Irvine Company, Crane Development, First RC Corp, City Ventures, G3 Urban, and Kantara West. His portfolio also includes high-profile signature projects such as the Westminster Cultural Center, Irvine Spectrum, The Huntington Library, and even work on Denver International Airport.

    Through it all, Dirk has remained committed to quality, efficiency, and building lasting relationships — values that continue to define his work and leadership at Best Masonry Services.

  • Darrell Sedig

    CO-FOUNDER & VICE PRESIDENT

    Born into the industry as the son of a civil engineer and licensed land surveyor, Darrell brings five decades of hands-on experience and a lifelong passion for building.

    His career began in Chicago in 1978 with Schlaf-Sedig and Associates, the largest engineering and surveying firm in Chicagoland at the time. Covering five counties, this early role instilled in him a strong work ethic and the importance of meeting client expectations and deadlines — values that would guide him throughout his career.

    By 1982, he had returned to Southern California, working on projects in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Anaheim. Projects ranged from city improvements, sound barrier walls, parks, military base work and remodeling of the Anaheim Convention Center. Over the years, Darrell advanced through leadership roles with several firms, from Lead Mason to General Field Superintendent, managing public works projects, large-scale residential developments, country clubs, and retail construction for brands such as Houston’s, Boston Market, and KFC.

    In 1997, Darrell co-founded Merit Masonry Inc., building it into a $25 million company before establishing Sedig Masonry and Masonry Innovations. There, he continued partnering with some of Southern California’s premier builders across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties, delivering custom estate homes and multimillion-dollar commercial projects — including the Yorba Linda Town Center, multiple Lowe’s and Super Walmart locations. As his firm grew, Darrell expanded business from San Diego to the Bay Area, with large scale projects for storage facilities, public works improvements, including Edison facilities and podium-style buildings.

    WIth Best Masonry Services, Darrell remains committed to integrity, craftsmanship, and building lasting foundations — in every project and every client relationship.

  • Cari Theissen

    CFO

    A seasoned financial leader with deep roots in the construction industry, Cari brings a powerful combination of financial expertise and operational know-how to Best Masonry Services. With more than three decades of experience in construction finance, management, and business operations, she plays a vital role in driving the company’s continued success.

    Her career began in 1991 as Owner and Controller of Precision Homes & Door Company in Hemet, CA, where she built a strong foundation in construction management and financial oversight. She later owned and operated Tap Daddy’s Bar in San Jacinto, gaining hands-on experience in business leadership and customer relations.

    Over the years, Cari has held key roles across respected construction and paving firms — including Ross Masonry Vincent Enterprises, All American Asphalt, TLG Paving Company, Fierra Construction, and Foundation Building Materials (FBM). In addition to her financial leadership positions as Controller, Office Manager, and Credit Manager, she also served as Project Manager and Safety Coordinator — overseeing job site operations, enforcing safety compliance, and supporting efficient, high-quality project delivery.
